Psychology is a science that explores behavior. Psychology involves studying about how we
interact with one another and our environment. Our majors learn valuable critical thinking and
writing skills in addition to acquiring a comprehensive overview of the major fields of psychology,
the methods used in psychological research, and the applications of psychological knowledge.
Our faculty specialty areas include biological, social, abnormal, developmental, industrial/organizational,
learning, perception, and cognition. The major provides a basis for careers in a variety of psychology related
occupations including mental health agencies, hospitals, teaching, business and public organizations. The
major also prepares students for graduate training in fields such as clinical psychology, experimental psychology,
marriage and family therapy, teaching, social work, law, business management, human resources, and public
administration.
Our faculty have an active interest in quality undergraduate education. Research, field work, and service learning
opportunities are available. We are especially proud of
Psi Chi, our award winning undergraduate honor society,
which sponsors a student research conference every spring -
The Spartan Psychological Research Colloquium (SPARC).
We invite you to join our department and the exciting field of psychology!
